Dharma Centre Reiki

Swami Dharmananda Saraswati’s interest in healing began in 1970/71 when working with Wilfred Clarke (co-founder of The British Wheel of Yoga & NFSH Healer).  Her spiritual teacher, Trivada Ramachandra, also had strong interests in healing which he encouraged in his students. Later, Swamiji’s Tantric Master Sri Jammu Maharaj encouraged and developed this further.  Thus, healing in its many different forms, has always been a major part of Swamiji’s spiritual work and teachings.  More recently, as Reiki healing became increasingly widespread, Swamiji learned and also taught Reiki to some of her students.

Radhika (Linda Holmes), has been a student of Swami Dharmananda Saraswati Maharaj for many years.  She has been teaching yoga since the early 80’s and began teaching Reiki in 2000.  Swamiji requested that Radhika continued and developed the Dharma Centre Reiki Training Programme which Swamiji had started.  With Swamiji’s guidance and support, Dharma Reiki has grown and in 2012 three more Dharma Centre Reiki members were attuned as Dharma Centre Teachers by Radhika.    Radhika is a Master Teacher Member of UK Reiki Federation and a Registered Karuna Reiki Master with The International Center for Reiki Training. Radhika also currently works as a chiropractor in her local area.

“It is with great honour and thanks that we continue the Dharma Centre Reiki Training Programme and the wonderful Reiki lineage and teachings on behalf of Swami Dharmananda Saraswati Maharaj”.

What is Reiki?

Reiki is a simple holistic healing technique used for stress reduction, relaxation, well-being, and spiritual growth. In Japan, during the late 1800s, Reiki was rediscovered in an ancient Tibetan Sanskrit manuscript by Dr Mikao Usui.  Reiki can be translated to mean universal life force energy or spiritual energy and describes both the energy, or ‘ki’, and the Usui system to use it.

Reiki is a system of self healing, and is a transformational tool to awaken our inner knowledge.  Reiki has been shown to effectively activate the relaxation response, thereby reducing stress and stimulating the body’s own natural healing ability and well being.

A Reiki treatment uses specific hand positions on the body, with the recipient sitting or lying fully clothed.  During treatment, the Reiki energy flows naturally and may be experienced as heat, cold, tingling, colours, compassion, love, or peacefulness.  Many people also feel Reiki is experienced as Divine healing love.

Anyone can learn Reiki, although knowledge of Reiki is passed traditionally from master teacher to student and is acquired in several stages.  Each stage or workshop is complete in itself, and uses both oral tradition and initiations or attunements, based on the original teachings of Mikao Usui.

Reiki is not a spiritual belief system and does not contradict any individual religious beliefs.  It is now widely accepted and practised in many NHS and private healthcare settings.  It can be used safely alongside any other complementary or conventional medical treatment.

Dharma Yoga and Healing Centre Certificated Workshops

Reiki is easy to learn yet powerful and effective, and teaching is done traditionally in three or four steps.  All classes are part lecture, and hands-on work, and include traditional sacred spiritual attunements to Reiki energy.  Extensive written manuals are provided for each workshop.

Reiki I is the foundation course

In this 2 day workshop the Reiki hand positions and basic techniques are taught.  After the class, you have a workable system of healing available for use for yourself, family, friends and pets.  Practice will improve your skills. After the workshop many students find themselves undergoing positive personal changes and spiritual growth.

Reiki II is the second level or Practitioner Level

This 2 day workshop is for those who wish to further develop and strengthen their healing.   Reiki II also provides the necessary training required to operate publicly as a Reiki practitioner.  Reiki II connects you to a greater volume of Reiki Energy. The sacred symbols are taught as well as distant healing and healing of emotional issues.  A period of at least 3 months is recommended between Reiki I and II.

Reiki IIIA  – Advanced Reiki Training/ The ‘Master Healer (ART)

The master level can be divided into two parts – master healer /practitioner and master healer/teacher. Many students take this training when they do not intend to teach but wish to use the increased finer energies, symbols and skills for their own healing, and for the healing of others.  Reiki IIIA is a 1 day workshop.  (A 2-step approach to Master Teacher may be preferable for some students.  Reiki III can later be taught in 2 days instead of 3 days if required).  A minimum of 2-3 years is required between Reiki II and IIIA.

REIKI III – The ‘Master Teacher’ Degree

This intensive 3 day workshop offers all that is required to inititate into the Third Degree Master/Teacher Level of Usui Reiki and to teach the classes.  A minimum period of 3 years is required between Reiki II and III.  Reiki III requires time, dedication and commitment to both Reiki and a spiritual path. It is important that the student is ready, and fully understands the powerful responsibilities associated with being a healer and a teacher.

Karuna®Reiki  - the ‘Reiki of Compassion’

This workshop is taught to Reiki Masters (III) who have been practising at master level for 1 year.  Karuna®Reiki has 2 levels and can be taught in 2 separate 1 day workshops or completed in a 2 day workshop.  Karuna’s unique high frequency energies are a natural extension to Usui Reiki and are  deeply healing, joyful and transformative.  Karuna gives access to new and powerful tools for self healing, for healing others and for world healing.

When a student reaches Reiki Master/Teacher, it does not mean that learning is complete. On the contrary, this is when the real learning begins. The new Reiki Master is guided by his/her Reiki Master to let Reiki itself be the teacher. The student is encouraged to find Truth and wisdom from within.

In spiritual evolution, there are no grades. There are no superior students and there are no failing students. There are only those who are ready and those who are not. Therefore, we believe that progressing through the classes quickly will serve only to short change your growth and provide a lesser experience.

Reiki is an energy with its own wisdom. It will provide you with exactly what you are ready to receive — no more and no less.

Workshops with Radhika run throughout the year, usually on a Friday and Saturday in Cambridgeshire, but can be arranged in advance to suit a  small group, or individual.  For more information please use the ‘contact us’ button
